Artificial Heights is a work dealing with a number of sites in the outskirts of Stockholm. These hills, or originally dumps, were a result of the modern urban planning projects in the city center and suburbs during the 60s and 70s. The Högdal mounds south of the city are three artificial hills built of demolition waste from the redevelopment of Norrmalm. Along with other artificial hills such as the Granholm mound and Frösunda mound, the Ullna tip and Hammarby hill the heights constitute an alternative and parallel narrative of the city’s growth and of what became of what was before.
